It happens very frequently, once you select a Geeklet to edit and then switch to another app/window and come back to GeekTool the properties window won't show again. Also then, after you close GeekTool pref pane, the Geekleet remains in edit mode ... Tomek Augustyn

In that context, you shouldn't use File type Geeklet, this one is really made for log files that gets appended with text. You should use a script geeklet with a command like ... Yann BIZEUL

I'm surprised this worked in GeekTool 2, files are always red the UNIX way, which is not aware of finder aliases. Are we really talking about aliases, or symbolic links ? They appear the same in the finder but are different. Yann BIZEUL
