Err, that could be quite ugly, depending on the background, couldn't it? (not to mention perfectly unreadable) :)

Yeah I know that's not trivial, I don't know yet what would be possible, and even less what would be smart :-)

At this point, I find that just doing white text with a shadow shows up on literally any background. Of course if you don't want a shadow you may have an issue with that... :P
